university vs. high school

so i was rummaging through my stuff today, trying to find a certain note made a long time ago. unfortunately i couldn't find it, but i DID find this interesting thing I must have made when I was pissed off at high school. it's a pro and cons to university vs high school. I don't really know if it is accurate, but it's amusing, methinks:

workload:
  • University: usually have 2 or more projects plus the midterm to make up your mark. usually have the whole semester to finish those projects/essays
  • HS: tons of projects, labs, tests, ISPs etc, piled on us to give us a "taste" of having "multiple projects at once"

schedule:

  • University: you get to choose your schedule, with classes ranging from 8 am to pm, with different classes each week
  • HS: Schedule chosen for us, so classes could be at the most inopportune periods, day-in and day-out, all semester long.

Jobs:

  • University: if you get a job, you are only allowed to legally work up to 15 hours a week.
  • HS: like you can ever get an evening off...

Skipping:

  • University: who cares! You can get the notes later, you had to work on that essay worth 50% of your mark...
  • HS: Detention! Phone call! Sound the alarm! oh, and by the way, you can't do homework in detention. we don't know why though...

Family:

  • "oh, she's in university, she's got lots of work to to, let her alone to do it."
  • HS: "hey beetch, come do the dishes, you can't be doing anything important."

Electronics:

  • new laptop, new phone plan, new everything which parents/OSAP might be willing to help out with.
  • HS: just try getting your bro away from the ancient, shared PC.

Accomodations:

  • new place! your rules! they'll miss you so much...what will they do without you? (ie: who'll clean up?)
  • HS: "this is my house so you'll do what I say!"; Clean up, even though you seem to be the only one doing so...; They can't wait till you move out...

Teachers:

  • University: total oblivion to who you are...
  • HS: they know who you are, who your parents are, where you live, where you sit, and how to use that all against you.

Friends:

  • Uni: multitude of new friends (or none, if you so wish, total blend into the crowd is possible)! You get to pick who you want to be and hang out with; there are a lot more fish in this ocean.
  • HS: You're still stuck with your BFF from grade 4, who turned out to be a total slut/pushover/retard/backstabber...but you can't just leave her, then she'd be a loner...you guys are friends, right? she still has your e-mail and phone number too...

3 comments:

  1. Uni: the work never stops. the large projects don't stop the small ones from coming.
HS: it really doesn't matter if you don't get stuff done.

uni: There aren't nearly as many smart cool people as planned. in fact, most of them are cheating, annoying drunks
HS: friends you've known all your life so you know how to deal with them

  2. Uni: residence is disgusting and people are mean and you can't do anything about it
HS: complain to parents and the problem is pretty much solved

Uni: work load is non stop and if you don't do any work you are screwed
HS: work load is relatively low, and if you don't do it, that's fine

    Uni: expensive
    HS: free

    although i still hate highschool...
